If you want to be a donor, the most important thing you can do is to make your wishes known to your family and next-of-kin. Doctors will support the decision of the family at the time of death. That is why it is so important to talk to your family about your wishes.

Organ and tissue donations and transplants are managed by the Saskatchewan Transplant Program, with coordinators in Saskatoon and Regina. The program has been in place since 1989.
Both Regina and Saskatoon provide cornea (tissue) transplants.
Adult (living donor) kidney transplantation is done in Saskatoon.
If you decide you would like to become a organ donor, the most important step is to make your wishes known to your family so that they are aware of your decision. In the event of your death, your family will be asked to consent to donation.
You can show your desire to donate by placing a red sticker on your PEI Health Care Card, and having a red heart engraved on your Driver’s License at renewal time.
Let your family know what your feelings and wishes are so they may act on your behalf.
As one mother says about the gift of life that saved her son, “We all have the ability to make an impact - simply by signing an organ donor card and making your wishes known to your family. Although we know nothing of our donor or his/her family, they hold a special place within our family and we hope and pray that they find comfort in the fact that other lives were changed so remarkably by their amazing gift.”
